Nicole and Chris-Engagement

I only have two pictures done so far, and they are the same one, but I couldn't decide which version I like best.  I am still working on the others and will do another post when I have more done.  I must say that Nicole and Chris braved the North Dakota cold for some really great shots.

Waiting for a Chance

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but things got crazy around here with my part time job since Black Friday.  Let me tell you never wish to work retail during that time.

So I have been contact a few times about photographing a wedding.  I have given them information, quoted a price and now I am just waiting.  Since I have never photographed a wedding officially(just as a guest) I am hoping someone gives me my first chance so I can establish myself as a wedding photographer as well.

Here are a few pictures I have taken as a guest at weddings:

Senior Pictures

Senior pictures is always like a right of passage for high school seniors.  It always a great way to capture a special turning point in a young persons life.  I love how you can do anything you want in a senior picture.  Its all about the senior and what they want to reflect in their pictures, their likes, hobbies, things that mean a lot to them.  I have done one senior session and hope to do more.  Here are some pictures from that session.

Cake Smash

I had the pleasure to do my first Cake Smash Monday morning.  For those of you don't know, Cake Smash sessions are generally for babies turning one.  The idea is to give them a cake(usually loaded with icing) and let them go at it while you take pictures.  It's just a fun way of capturing them diving into a cake and a great way for you to have memories of their first birthday.  The little girl I photographed was such a cutie and even though she didn't make a huge mess I was able to capture some great photos.

Newborn

I have had a busy week but was able to bookend my week with newborn pictures.  I had the privilege of going to the hospital the day after this cutie was born to take some pictures(the first three) and then I was able to go to their home yesterday and take a few more(the last four).  I have been taking pictures for this family for almost a year now.  I love being able to watch a family grow and cannot wait to watch their newest addition grow and be there to capture all the precious moments.

Beginning

Well, I have decided to create a blog just for my photography.  Figured it was a great way to get my name out there and have a change for more people to see my work.

A little about myself.  My name is Michelle Weaver and I have been doing photography for pretty much ever.  Four years ago I decided that I really wanted to try and pursue it as a career and a business.  I did a year with Lifetouch which is a company that does school photography.  I really enjoyed going into schools and taking pictures.  It gave me a deeper love of doing photography.  While I was doing that I got my first DSLR and really started learning my style as a photographer.  My first official photography shoot as an engagement session for a really good friend of mine.  From there I just would ask friends who got engaged if they wanted free engagement pictures.

When my family moved to Grand Forks, ND I had my second official session.  Co-workers of my husband had gotten engaged and wanted photos to use as save the date cards.  Of course I offered my services.  It was then that I realized I wanted to specialize my photography.  I love doing engagement sessions.  It's so much fun to capture a couple during the happiest time of their lives.  I love being able to show a couples love for each other through pictures.  I also would love to do wedding as well, just waiting for the first couple to ask me to do that for them.

I realized soon that I should no limit myself to just engagements and weddings because that is a limited market for that.  I also do portraits, family, kids, maternity and really anything you need pictures for.  I created a Facebook page about 9 months ago to showcase my work and use it as a way for people to see my work an contact me about pictures.

At the risk of a very long post, I just wanted to give a little background on the name I decided for my budding business.  With This Ring photography actually was inspired by my own wedding.  When my husband and I got married a co-worker of my dad had give us this beautiful wooden plaque his father had carved.  On it in was the phrase, with these rings and a picture of two rings intertwined.  I then realized that my in-laws had gotten us a picture frame with the phrase, with this ring and had a picture of rings intertwined.  I just loved that phrase, and with wanting to specialize in engagements and weddings that phrase works great because of what the ring symbolizes in the relationship.  More recently my aunt had made a counted cross-stitch work for me and my husband with the date of our wedding and initials on it, and of course the intertwined rings on it.  I realized then that my choice of name was a good one and that the intertwined rings is the symbol of my relationship with my husband.

Check back as I do sessions and I will post my favorite pictures from the session.  Also follow me on my journey as I turn my passion into a business.  For now just check out my Facebook page.  Like my page and follow my work, and spread the word.
